Will you help me get my book about Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis translated into English?

I am Kirsten (1977), born in The Netherlands, moved to Sweden in 2005. I am married and we have three wonderful children. We live in beautiful Dalarna.

In 2012 I had TEN (Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis), a life-threatening, allergic reaction to medication (Tegretol).

In just a few days I lost 65% of my skin. A series of medical and psychological traumas followed (an inner tornado) that caused me enormous distress and sorrow for 10 years. Unexpectedly, after breaking my ankle during a holiday, I was able to put my experiences and feelings into perspective and even into words. This was a huge moment in my healing process.

I signed a contract with a Dutch publisher (Triple Boeken) and on the 17th of november 2023 my book with the Dutch title Gebroken – niet gescheurd became available.

My book has been out for less than two months and already the response is exceeding all my expectations! I am very happy with all the heartwarming and positive messages. I have also received great responses from medical professionals in The Netherlands.

I can – already – draw the conclusion that my wish to spread knowledge about the disease SJS/TEN is coming true.

In a few months I hope that I will receive the same reactions from medical professionals in Sweden!

I don’t want to stop here; I want my book to be translated into English and be published internationally. I have even been encouraged to do so by the international community of Survivors and their loved ones. So little is known about (the consequences) of SJS/TEN that the experiences I have written down will be received with great interest by patients, their loved ones and medical professionals. It is a story they can relate to. I of course checked this with my fellow Survivors✅.

Having my book translated by a certified native speaker is not cheap. Therefore, for the English version, I need help to get this done. Any donation is welcome and all money raised will be used for translating the book into English. My goal is to publish the English version of my book as an E-book around the same time the Swedish version (hard copy) will be published!
