Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis

Follow me on my journey telling about my ten years of TEN!

Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) and Stevens-Johnsons Syndrome (SJS) are very much alike. The difference between the two is that in SJS less then 15% of the top layer of the skin is affected. (Affected = dies and sheds) With TEN more than 30% is affected and there is even extensive damage to the mucous membranes. In my case 65 % of my skin was affected in the acute phase and ultimately 80 %. The affected skin is treated like burns. Between 15% and 30% of affected skin is called SJS/TEN overlap.
